Shelley’s book

Stand-Up For Yourself

Stand-up For Yourself and Become the Hero or Shero You Were Born to Be isn’t just a biography. It’s a candid, occasionally comical, and deeply human account of how I went from being a suicidal mess with a failed business and a loathing for mirrors – to becoming an international speaker, psychotherapist, and coach who now helps others stand up (quite literally) for themselves.

Long before the standing ovations and transformation talk, my life was more Greek tragedy than TED Talk. I hated who I was. My personal life was a shambles, my business flopped, and I found myself questioning whether I even belonged. The turning point? I stopped running and started revealing – daring to express my true self. That changed everything.

What followed was an obsession with the human mind. I trained in psychotherapy, EMDR, NLP, and hypnosis. I wanted to make sense of the chaos I’d clawed my way out of. Now, I work with business leaders and entrepreneurs who find change terrifying but necessary. Because when you stop pretending and start owning your uniqueness, life gets a lot more extraordinary – and infinitely more fun.

“An inspiring, no-holds-barred account of one woman’s quest to find her true self.”

“A unique story told with delightfully dry humour about identity, self-discovery, acceptance, and courage. It is also testament to a profoundly touching love story that has lasted over forty years.”
